Our Process: How We Work

Alison’s 24+ years of experience provide her with in-depth knowledge of schools, and the admissions process.  She connects with all types of students to ensure that they find the right fit and present their unique talents to colleges. Alison views the college admission process as an opportunity for reflection and self-discovery. This is a time to focus on values, clarify goals and identify schools that best support each student.

1. Self Reflect

Our Goal: Build self-awareness and establish the foundation for a meaningful and strategic college search process.
Our Approach: This process begins with questions about how you see yourself and what sparks your interest, in and out of the classroom. We review transcripts and discuss your goals for attending college. We know it’s not just about getting in but staying in and thriving.

Remember...

Before you start looking at colleges, take a look at yourself – who you are, what types of environments bring you joy, what kinds of people bring out the best in you and help you grow.

2. Identify Best Matches

Our goal: Create a list that will offer you the best fit academically, socially, financially, culturally, and other factors.
Our Approach: We work together to build a balanced college list with a range of admission difficulty and ensure that you are excited about all of them, regardless of their admissions statistics. The list is dynamic and changes as you learn more about yourself and this process.

Remember...

College rankings are deeply flawed, heavily manipulated and do not measure student engagement or happiness. Your best college options may be schools less widely known. What’s most important is your success at a school that matches who you truly are and how you want to grow.

3. Maximize Opportunity

Our goal: Identify your unique strengths and highlight these through extracurricular activities, applications, essays and interviews.

Our approach: We break the admission process into manageable parts, advising students how to make the most of campus visits, virtual admissions events, interviews, and standardized test preparation. Two readers from our team edit each essay and application, offering comments and individual feedback. We strategize whether early application makes sense for you.

Remember...

We help you gain a better sense of yourself, build confidence, and present yourself authentically to admissions. Working together, we will find colleges and universities that are the right match for you!
